Welcome to Heather's T.R.E.E.

Welcome to Heather's T.R.E.E., focusing on Training, Resources, Education and Empowerment regarding domestic violence and how to help yourself or a loved one who finds themselves in this type situation.

This site is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Mary Heather Spencer; daughter, grand-daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece and friend, who was murdered by her boyfriend on 9/11/07. We pray her story will touch the lives of others in unsafe domestic situations and lead them to a better life of love and fulfillment.

By 6pm, Saturday, October 11th, final touches were made and supporters began filling up the Red Room at Hal and Mal's in Jackson for the 1st Annual Heather Spencer 'Soulshine' Memorial Concert benefiting the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV).

The event was attended by several hundred people and a powerful message from Anna Walker Crump, executive director of MCADV, helped reinforce the need for funds and awareness against the silent crime of domestic violence. The entrance price included a commemorative ticket with lanyard and a gourmet assortment of delicious foods prepared by some of Jackson's most popular eateries along with a fantastic line-up of local musicians that played to a packed audience until after 1am.

Tables were decorated with white linens and brown bottles sprouted white tree branches and colorful Gerber daisies, Heather's favorite flower. Outside, two huge tents were erected and a vast selection of original artwork, jewelry, designer sunglasses, pottery, beach accommodations and a mountain cabin retreat, plus lots more were available for bids during the silent auction.

One of the highlights of the auction included a commemorative 2007 Super Bowl Football autographed by Eli Manning along with a "Generations" framed poster of Eli, Peyton and Archie, signed by Archie. T-shirts were sold and a slide show of Heather with friends and family was viewed all night. The night exceeded our expectations and we are grateful and humbled by the response.

We will be presenting our contribution to MCADV from the event proceeds in a couple of weeks and will keep you posted!

Plans are already in the works for 2009 and we look forward to working with MCADV all year as we try to create awareness and end the suffering of those trapped within this silent crime.
